Bill W. states that “Our Twelfth Step – carrying the message– is the basic service that the A.A. Fellowship gives; this is our principal aim and the main reason for our existence.”
One drunk talking to another is stated to be vital to permanent recovery to the individual, and is the lifeblood to the newcomer.
There is, however, more than one way to carry the message. Your home group may have the ability to motivate and excite the newcomer as no one-on-one interaction can. This ability is enhanced if your home group has a “Central Office Rep” who can bring information to the group (and the newcomer) that otherwise may be lost.
At your next business meeting, I’d encourage you to ask if your group has that “Rep”, and if not, please recruit someone. These positions require a minimal amount of time, (about 6 hour per year) that may pay dividends to your group in ways you can’t even imagine. We meet four times a year for about 1½ hours per meeting. Donuts and coffee are provided. For more information, please contact us at 541-732-1850 or go to our website, jccoaa.org
Thank you for your consideration,
Your Central Office Manager,
