September 2021 Newsletter – J.C.C.O.A.A.

Welcome to the September 2021 Jackson County and Josephine County A.A. Newsletter. Thank you for subscribing.

This newsletter reaches roughly 500 members of A.A. in the Rogue Valley and scattered throughout Oregon each month. I would like to believe that of all these members, a few of them have a story or two to share about their road to recovery and/or adventures in sobriety. I’m also sure that some of you may have an A.A.-oriented joke to share. Either way, I’m asking for your help. Anyway, in this issue, aside from great stories about making amends and the Promises, you will read about an inmate from Mill Creek Group of A.A., at the  Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem, Oregon, who lives his life a day at a time, asking God to be the master-builder of his life. Our friend asks God to show him and encourages us to ask God how to build a solid foundation for the “house” of our life … in just Twelve Steps.

Also, you will read about the publication of “Alcoholics Anonymous” by Jack Alexander that was published in the Saturday Evening Post issue of March 1, 1941, and marked a milestone in the history of the Fellowship. This Post report on the handful of men and women who had achieved sobriety through A.A. was largely responsible for the surge of interest that established the Society on a national and international basis. In reading this publication, I reflect on the picture of the three gentlemen, two of whom are Bill W., and Dr. Bob, and the third is Bill Dotson, A.A. number 3. It appears in the portrait that Bill W. and Dr. Bob are sharing their experience, strength, and hope of how they recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body. We are all so blessed that they did and that this A.A. listened and did what was suggested, blazing that road of happy destiny. All I can say is “thank you!”
