After months of discussion between District 16 and Jackson County Central Office full ownership and operation of the phone system will now be handled by CO. We are looking for volunteers to answer calls during the hours CO is closed. At this time, an overnight shift would be 4pm – 9am. The weekend shift would be from noon on Saturday until 9am on Monday morning. Currently we have this broke up into 6 shifts, Monday thru Saturday. At the on set (now) we will be giving out shifts Monday thru Saturday, once filled we will then start filling in shifts based on 1st Monday, 2nd., 3rd., etc for all of the days, alleviating one person to always have to answer on the specific day of the week.
Keeping in mind, District recorded every call received over a two month period, with these findings. A total of 30 calls were received during the 2 month period, the majority being for Meeting information. Only one call during the two month period was during the time frame of 12am to 6am. During that two month period, the volunteers answering the phones, found they could function just like any other day; go to meetings, go to church, take a shower, one even went to a wedding in CA!

With the advent of the internet and this being a small county, in comparison to other call centers like Cleveland, very very few calls come in.
