How Central Office Supports You & Your Group
The Jackson County Central Office is run and managed by volunteers who are also members of AA.

Even though we do not have payroll expenses (none of our Office volunteers or Board Members are paid staff members), we do have big expenses for rent, phone, supplies, and other items. Therefore, we are able to keep our doors open and answer the phones 24/7 from fundraising and contributions.

The Jackson County Central Office of Alcoholics Anonymous Inc. (JCCOAA) is governed by an elected Steering Committee that meets the first Saturday of the month:

Part of the role of the Member At Large committee member is to assist in recruitment of Central Office Representatives from each of the A.A. groups in Jackson County. Per the bylaws, the membership body of JCCOAA, in addition to the Steering Committee, the body is also to include a Representative and Alternate Representative from any A.A. Group in Jackson County. Each member group shall be entitled to one vote in the Quarterly General Meeting of the Central Office and these meetings are held four times in each year, in March, June, September and December.

Not just an Office, but the Heart Beat of A.A.
There are nearly 700 central/intergroup offices throughout the world performing vital A.A. services. These constitute a network of service outlets and A.A. contacts to help carry the A.A. message.
A Central Office can:
- Put you in direct contact with Alcoholics Anonymous in just about any area throughout the United States and abroad.
- Answer inquires from those seeking help.
- Refer you to a nearby group, where sponsorship may be arranged, or have a twelfth stepper contact them.
- Maintain a conveniently located office in which paid workers and/or volunteers coordinate local AA services.
- Publish and distribute up-to-date lists of meetings and other information about local AA services.
- Sell AA Conference-approved literature and other spiritual/recovery related materials.
- Circulate and exchange information among all the A.A. groups in the community.
- Provide “exchange” meetings, where group program chairpersons meet regularly to exchange meetings with other groups.
- Be an ideal contact with those in the community seeking information about A.A.
- Maintain contact with local groups in correctional facilities and treatment facilities, offering literature and prerelease A.A. contacts and arranging for A.A. speakers and visitors to meetings.
- Be a logical body to manage the details of an annual dinner, picnic, or convention, if the participating groups wish it.
- Publish a periodic distribution to A.A. groups in the form of a monthly newsletter.
- Carry information on wheelchair accessible, or meetings that provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for members who are Deaf.

Although all of this information may be informative, the best way to really understand your Central Office is to come and visit us!

You can hear the volunteers answer the phones, talk to the new drunk who needs help, and set them up with a 12 Step call. Pick up some flyers about A.A. events happening in our fellowship. Get a new colorful meeting book that is published by the Office. Check out the wide array of AAWS and Grapevine literature. These are only a part of the vital functions that your Central Office does on a daily basis.
But most of all we hope that you come and see the unity of the entire fellowship in Southern Oregon as well the sense of service and responsibility to help the still suffering alcoholic. The miracle happens when one alcoholic talks to another alcoholic and your Central Office acts as a first point of contact for our future members
